SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell wrestling alum, Nathan Kraisser, has been named to the Spring 2017 Academic All-Southern Conference team, announced by the league office on Monday.
Nathan Kraisser completed his final season with NCAA All-America honors, after finishing 8th at the 2017 NCAA Wrestling Championships in St. Louis, Mo. He finished second at the SoCon Championships, falling to Freddie Rodriguez in the championship bout, but avenged the loss with a victory at the NCAA Championships to clinch his All-American status. He finished the 2017 season with a 30-10 overall record and graduated from Campbell with a degree in Sport Management.
Earlier in the year, he was also named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division I All-Academic Individuals list for his performance in the classroom. Kraisser was one of 35 All-America honorees to be named to the NWCA All-Academic Individuals list.
Overall, there are 479 Academic All-SoCon selections by 404 student-athletes in the league.
To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average at the conclusion of the spring semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions.
In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
