Camels Fall to St. Joseph's 9-1

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – In its last home match before April, Campbell fell to St. Joseph's 9-1 at Barker-Lane Stadium Tuesday. The Fighting Camels fell to 1-2 as the Hawks moved to 4-1 on the season.

"Our defense did everything we asked them to do before the game," said head coach Phil Schuman. "We couldn't convert on the offensive end and I was a little disappointed in our decision making there. All in all, our defense did enough to keep us in the game, but our offense couldn't convert. This is a great learning experience for our players and we look forward to seeing how we respond against Stetson Friday."

The Hawks held CU scoreless in the first half, netting five unanswered goals. In the half, SJU outshot Campbell 9-2.

Freshman Erica Hitch tallied the first goal of the second half less than two minutes after the halftime break. She broke away after a Hawk foul to give Campbell its only score of the game.

SJU answered with four goals to bring the final score to 9-1. The leading scorer for the Hawks was Abby Ananian, who netted three.

The Camels will be on the road for seven-straight games. The road trip kicks off at Stetson Friday at 4 p.m.
