BUIES CREEK, N.C. --- Campbell women's basketball coach Ronny Fisher has announced the signing of Lauren McNamara-Clement to a letter of commitment and financial aid agreement to join the Camels for the upcoming 2017-18 campaign.
McNamara-Clement is a 6-2 forward out of Raleigh, N.C. A four-year letter-winner and team captain at Leesville Road High School, she was a 2016 All-Cap-8 Conference selection and was named to the league's all-tournament team.
"Lauren is a wonderful addition to our program and we are excited to attract an area player of her caliber," said Fisher. "Lauren is an extremely versatile player. She has the size and ability to score inside and defends well on the interior. Her ability to step out and knock down the 3 makes her very difficult to defend."
McNamara-Clement surpassed 500 career points and rebounds and tallied 172 blocks in less than three prep seasons. She also led the Pride to back-to-back 20-win campaigns for the first time in program history under the direction of head coach Ben Daniels.
McNamara-Clement was averaging 15.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game early in her senior campaign before suffering a season-ending injury.
McNamara-Clement was invited to Colorado Springs, Colo. in May 2016 to try out for the USA Women's National U17 Team and advanced to the top-40 of final cuts. She also played with the N.C. Attack AAU squad under the direction of head coach Mike Zeillmann.
In the classroom, McNamara-Clement graduated with a 4.46 GPA and was recognized as a Senior Scholar and a Wake County Standout Student. She was a member of the National Honors Society, Math National Honors Society and served as the President of the Spanish Club as well as captain of the school's concert band.
"Off the court, Lauren is a natural leader who excels in the classroom and simply makes everyone around her better. She is a high character young lady from a tremendous family who will make an immediate impact in the Campbell community!"
