LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Five-time All-American Amon Terer punched his ticket to the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships Saturday night at the University of Kentucky Track & Field Complex. The Campbell graduate from Eldoret, Kenya placed first overall in the semifinal of the men's 5K with a time of 13:55.55 to highlight Campbell's performances on Day Three of the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds.

Following a three-hour lightning delay, the Fighting Camels began the day with the women's triple jump as reigning Big South Most Outstanding Women's Field Performer Sabina Allen represented CU. The Spanish Town, Jamaica native posted a season-best mark of 12.88m, which ranked the Campbell junior 16th overall in the regional field.

Up next was the men's high jump, where Davian Rhodes made his third-straight Regionals appearance. The Campbell grad from Shelby, N.C. easily cleared 2.00m on his first attempt, followed by a clearance of 2.05m on his third. Making his first attempt at the 2.10m bar, Rhodes suffered a knee injury and was not able to continue the competition. His mark of 2.05m ranked T-29th amongst the regional field of high jumpers.

Lilla Juhasz represented Campbell in the women's 100m hurdles quarterfinal after qualifying with a season-best time of 13.47 in the first round. The seven-time Big South Champion and 15-time All-Big South Honoree got off to an amazing start in the quarterfinal round and was leading through five hurdles, but fell near the 60m mark and was not able to finish.

Campbell's final event of the regional meet was the men's 5,000m where the Kenyan duo of Amon Kemboi and Terer competed in Heats 1 and 2, respectively. Kemboi, who led for a majority of the race, wound up finishing sixth in his heat with a time of 14:23.77, good for 17th place in his NCAA Regional debut. Terer posted the fastest time of the meet in the second heat with a mark of 13:55.55 to qualify for his second-consecutive Outdoor National Championship.

Up next, Terer will continue training in preparation for the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, hosted by the University of Oregon at Hayward Field.
