Jenkins posts top-30 mark Thursday at NCAA East Regional

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Recent Campbell graduate Lorne Jenkins notched a top-30 finish in the men's long jump to highlight CU's performances Thursday at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds. The Longmont, Colo. native posted a mark of 7.09m at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track & Field Complex, placing 30th overall in the regional field.

Campbell opened the regional meet with the men's 400m hurdles as Chigozie Atavwigho represented CU. The sophomore from East Lake, Fla. competed in Heat 5, finishing with a time of 54.25 in his NCAA East Regional debut. That time ranked 41st overall in the regional field of intermediate hurdlers.

Reigning Big South Most Outstanding Women's Field Performer Sabina Allen participated in her first event of the regional meet, the women's long jump. The junior from Spanish Town, Jamaica native recorded a jump of 5.70m, placing 45th overall.

Joan Maritim competed in her second-consecutive NCAA East Regional as she represented CU in the women's 10,000m. The junior from Kasok, Kenya posted a time of 35:45.38 to place 40th overall in the regional event.

Day Two of the NCAA East Regional continues Friday, May 26 as Campbell competes in two events. Shenelle McKay will represent CU in the women's high jump, while Lilla Juhasz runs the 100m hurdles.
