BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Campbell senior Amon Terer is set to compete in the men's 5000m Friday night at the Payton Jordan Invitational, hosted by Stanford University. Terer will run in Heat 2 of the 5K, scheduled for an 11:55 p.m. EST start at the Cobb Track and Angell Field in Stanford, Calif.

The Payton Jordan Invite is known as one of the premier distance running meets in the country as it annually produces a collection of world-, U.S.- and collegiate-leading times. Terer will be competing alongside an elite field of professional, amateur and collegiate athletes, including 2017 NCAA Indoor 5K National Champion and 17-time All-American Edward Cheserek from Oregon.

This will be the first 5K of the outdoor season for Terer. He earned First Team All-America honors in his most recent 5K at the 2017 NCAA Indoor National Championships, placing third overall with a time of 13:47.01.

Following the meet, Terer will join the rest of the Fighting Camels as the team prepares for the 2017 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
