Three Camels named to NCCSIA All-State teams

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Campbell has earned three student-athletes on the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association 2017 All-State Softball teams.

Amber Schisler and Taesha DuBoise earned first team honors for the Camels in the designated player slot and outfield respectively. Caroline Smith earned second team honors as one of four infielders on the all-state team.

Schisler ended her 2017 campaign as the Big South Player of the Year, a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America, and a NFCA Southeast All-Region Third Team recipient. She also set a NCAA record for most consecutive plate appearances having reached base with 26, breaking the previous record set by Maddie O'Brien (18) from Florida State in 2014. She finished first in the league in batting average (.431), slugging (.850), on-base percentage (.618), home runs (18), and walks (57). The San Diego, Calif. native was also top three in runs (47), RBI (50), total bases (130), hit by pitch (18), and total plate appearances (228).

As a mainstay in the outfield for CU, DuBoise appeared in 58 games with 189 at-bats and 60 hits. She scored 37 runs and drove in 24 while tallying 10 doubles and a team-high four triples. The Stockbridge, Ga. native walked 14 times and swiped six bases. She finished the year with a .317 batting average, a .375 on-base percentage, and a .413 slugging percentage to compliment her 15 multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games. In centerfield, DuBoise finished with a .963 fielding percentage on 81 chances.

Smith played in 53 games for the Camels with 164 at-bats, tallying 50 hits for a .305 batting average. She also boasted a .372 on-base percentage and a .476 slugging percentage. Offensively, she scored 43 runs and drove in 28 runs with six home runs on the year. The Wilson, N.C. product connected on eight doubles and one triple, along with 11 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games. In the field, she had 132 assists while playing 39 games at shortstop and finished fourth with 13 double plays for a .950 fielding percentage.
