Amber Schisler named to CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Amber Schisler has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

"On the field, I have great teammates who have supported me during my time at Campbell," Schisler stated. "Off the field, having a small school setting and support from my professors helped me become a well-rounded student-athlete."

Schisler is one of three designated players to earn Academic All-America honors. Her first team honor is the first for Campbell softball since Annie Lewis' honor in 2001 and first Academic All-America honor since 2009 when Karlie Love was named to the second team.

The San Diego, Calif. native graduated from Campbell with a degree in finance and is currently signed to play with the Witches Linz softball organization in Linz, Austria.

"We have tremendous talent all around the field," said head coach Todd Bradley. "This a great honor for Amber because it highlights what it truly means to be a student-athlete."

During the 2017 season, Schisler collected multiple accolades for her performance on the field. She was named the Big South Preseason Player of the Year, she collected a pair of Big South Player of the Week honors and capped off the campaign with Big South Player of the Year and first team honors. She was also named to the NFCA Southeast All-Region third team.

On the field, she finished first in the league in batting average (.431), slugging (.850), on-base percentage (.618), home runs (18), and walks (57). She was also top three in runs (47), RBI (50), total bases (130), hit by pitch (18), and total plate appearances (228). All of those marks place her in the top-10 of the Campbell softball record book for a single-season performance.

Schisler set a NCAA record for most consecutive plate appearances having reached base with 26. She broke the previous record set by Maddie O'Brien (18) from Florida State in 2014.
