LYNCHBURG, VA. – Campbell's run in the National Invitational Softball Championship ended Wednesday afternoon following a 5-1 loss to in-state foe UNCW inside Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.

The Camels finish the season with a 29-29 record, along with a second place finish in the Big South and the first postseason appearance since 2009.

UNCW's offense was led by Kelsey Bryan's 3-for-4, one run day. Hannah Adamczyk also had a pair of hits, to go along with her three RBI.

Campbell received hits from Katie Baker, Caroline Smith, and Bailey Bjorson in the contest. Bjorson's RBI in the seventh plated the lone run for the Camels on the day.

The Seahawks opened the contest with a four-run first inning to take a 4-0 lead. The scoring began on a double steal that plated Kelsey Bryan from third.

One batter later, Rachel Willis increased the lead to 2-0 on a RBI double to left centerfield. Hannah Adamczyk finished the scoring in the inning with a two-run home run to left field.

In the bottom of the second UNCW added one more run as Adamczyk drove in Lauren Moore on a RBI single to push the lead to 5-0.

The Camels' lone run came in the top of the seventh inning, courtesy of Bailey Bjorson. After a triple off the wall from Caroline Smith and Taesha DuBoise's hit-by-pitch, Bjorson roped a single to right field to bring home Smith and put CU on the board.

Lacey Fox (1-0) picked up the win in two innings of hitless work for UNCW. Megan Richards (3-5) took the loss in the start, allowing three earned and two hits.
