Camels close out regular season with Longwood

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell rounds out the regular season, hosting Longwood Thursday-Saturday, May 18-20, at Jim Perry Stadium.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, with Friday's game two featuring a 3 p.m. start. Saturday's finale will begin at 2 p.m.

Prior to Saturday's game, Campbell's six seniors, Drew Butler, Ben Calvano, Erik Dowse, Cole Hallum, Phil Stokes and Adam Wyse, will be recognized. Additionally, the Jim and Daphne Perry Pavilion will be dedicated.

Heading into the final weekend of Big South play, the Camels (23-29, 8-13 Big South) look to clinch the final spot in the league's tournament, to be held in Lexington, S.C. at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium May 23-27. Winthrop, Liberty, Presbyterian, High Point, Radford, UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb have clinched seven of the tournament's eight bids.

Already with tie-breakers over Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb, the Camels can clinch at least the No. 8 seed with one win over Longwood in the three-game series, and could finish as high as sixth in the standings.

Matthew Barefoot leads the Camels on the season, batting .343 with 46 RBI on 30 extra-base hits, including 22 doubles and eight home runs.

Jeff Hahs adds a .316 average with 10 home runs and 40 RBI, while Cole Hallum hits .288 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI. Drew Butler remains the nation's leader in stolen bases with 36, adding a .310 average with 49 runs scored.

On the mound, Wes Noble is 4-2 with a 3.48 ERA in 54 1/3 innings. Alex Yarem owns a 2-1 record with a 4.19 ERA, while Harry Thomas is 2-2 with a 3.73 ERA.

Longwood heads into the series at 18-32 overall and 6-15 in Big South games, falling in 2-of-3 at UNC Asheville last weekend. Michael Osinski leads the Lancers at the plate, batting .309 with 35 RBI. Antwaun Tucker adds a .294 clip with 22 RBI. Cody Wagner is 4-4 with a 3.58 ERA for Longwood.

Campbell is 16-7 all-time against Longwood.

The Big South Baseball Championship begins May 23 in Lexington, S.C. at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
